Remembering the fallen / by Jasmine Tate

Today is the last day of the month and tomorrow my colleagues and I will return to a new sense of normalcy as we report back to the office after over a year of working remotely. As we enjoy an extra day of rest on this Memorial Day Weekend, I’m thankful for the sacrifices of the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country and freedoms.

Here are ways to remember their lives and legacies of service.

  • Visit a national cemetery or memorial.

  • Learn more about American history.

  • Pray for the families of those who are grieving.

  • Participate in local ceremonies.

As we grieve the losses of fallen soldiers and honor their service and sacrifice, we must also celebrate the lives they lived and the impact they brought to ours. As you maximize the day, don’t forget to:

  • Connect with your family and friends, especially those serving in the armed forces.

  • Take advantage of sales.

  • Get some rest before returning to work, remote or in person.

We should all approach Memorial Day from a place of gratitude for the freedoms we get to enjoy because of those who sacrificed so much and gave their lives in service.
